Here’s wishing all my friends and readers a very joyous Eid in advance!
I know I am due posting some iftar recipes lately. But have been occupied tweaking up the blog mostly. It will be Eid ul Fitr celebrations in a day or two, depending on the sighting of the new moon.
A little about Eid ul Fitr or Eid -
This day is celebrated marking the end of the month of Ramadan (month of fasting for Muslims), and on the first day of the month of Shawwal (10th month in the Islamic calendar). On this day, muslims wake up early before dawn to offer the Fajr prayer, get dressed in their best outfit, have dates for breakfast and head to offer special congregational prayers – Salaat ul Eid. Eid ul Fitr is a day of thanksgiving, and merry-making. We celebrate with friends and family, prepare feasts and exchange gifts.
Eid ul Fitr 2013 is special for us, as this is going to be the very first one with our son and we are quite excited about it! The special dessert on Eid ul Fitr is Sheerkorma; a dessert made up of creamy milk, vermicilli and dried fruits. This dessert is served with some savoury snack. I would like to share my recipe for Chicken Swirls, that were a hit on the Eid day last year.
This snack is quite a hit for any time – iftar, entree or just a quick snack. You can of course make filling of your choice.
Here is the recipe to Chicken Swirls.
